Doesnt' the below sound like terrorism? And where is Venezuela located?

Chavez warns US President. Any retalitation towards Iran and gas prices will soar.


The Bush administration is banning arms sales from the U.S. to Venezuela, America's fifth-largest source for oil imports, because of what it says is a lack of support by President Hugo Chavez's government for counterterrorism. The U.S. action signals a further deterioration in relations with Venezuela, though Chavez shrugged it off and said he did not plan retaliation.

Hugo Chavez is full of beans. every week he has a new oil related threat. people pretend that the U.S. has no oil of its own. has anyone ever heard of the Strategic Oil Reserve?

it is my understanding that we have enough go-juice on tap to fight a prolonged two front WWII style conflict (gallons adjusted to todays standards, thats a lot of oil...)
of course, i could be way off here but i thought we had decades worth, not 90 days. i'll research my figure and get back to it later.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) usually refers to an emergency petroleum store maintained by the United States Department of Energy, although in recent years several other countries have created their own SPR: See global strategic petroleum reserves. The US SPR is the largest emergency supply in the world with the current capacity to hold up to 727 million barrels (116 million m³) of crude oil. According to the Department of Energy, as of April 2006, the current inventory is 687 million barrels (272.5 million barrels of Sweet crude oil and 415 million barrels of Sour crude oil. The current inventory is available on the SPR's website. According to the World Factbook, the United States consumes about 20M barrels of oil a day; therefore, at maximum capacity, the SPR holds the equivalent of about 36 days of consumption.

36 days and keep in mind this is crude oil. Bush used 2 days worth in an effort to drop gas prices a short time ago. SPR

I think the US still holds some capped fields.
